Water arrives as weapon. The gun holds it, shapes it, releases it without consequence. Water returns to the earth. The gun can be refilled. There is permission in this—to aim, to soak, to laugh while doing damage that does not damage. The water gun teaches that force can be playful, that soaking someone can be called fun. It teaches the confusion between play and harm.
